More than £35,000 is to be spent delivering activities and making improvements in the borough’s parks and green spaces.

The cash has come as the result of a successful bid by Knowsley Council to the London Marathon Charitable Trust in partnership with the Fields in Trust to deliver an Active Spaces Programme.

In Halewood Park, residents can get active through a number of activities run by the council’s Green Space Rangers. This includes organised walks (including Nordic walking, buggy walks and memory walks aimed at residents with dementia along with their carers), running groups, cycling activities for all abilities, outdoor pursuits such as orienteering, conservation activities such as habitat management, as well as a range of family activities from building shelters to outdoor cooking.
